We Are Not Going Back!

The objective for certain political figures and entities, such as Trump, Musk, and the GOP, is often to increase their wealth or receive greater financial support from affluent donors and large corporations. One strategy to achieve this is by eliminating what are perceived as “liabilities” on the federal budget. However, since military spending is a lucrative industry due to various corporate contracts, cutting its funding is not an option.

Instead, the focus shifts to dismantling essential social services and regulatory agencies such as Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security, SNAP, WIC, USPS, IRS, the Consumer Protection Agency, EPA, and the Department of Education. Here’s how this impacts society:

  • Medicare and Medicaid: By eliminating these programs, the insurance, pharmaceutical, and healthcare industries stand to gain financially. Conversely, the absence of these programs could lead to higher mortality rates as people may be unable to afford medical care.
  • Social Security: Abolishing Social Security would mean individuals no longer pay for government-managed retirement benefits. This scenario benefits investment bankers, as people would need to seek private investment services. For corporations, it also means reduced payroll taxes. However, it forces many individuals to work until they can no longer physically do so, leading to financial insecurity and potential early death.
  • SNAP, WIC, and Public School Lunches: Eliminating these nutrition assistance programs would result in increased grocery sales as individuals would need to purchase more food. Grocery chains could exploit this demand by raising prices, thereby boosting their profits. However, this would also risk malnutrition and starvation for those unable to afford food.
  • USPS: Eliminating the USPS would compel individuals to rely on private courier services like UPS and FedEx, which are generally more expensive. This change could increase costs for sending mail and packages.
  • Consumer Protection Agency: Without this watchdog, consumers lose vital protections against corporate malpractices, potentially resulting in increased corporate profits at the expense of consumer rights and safety.
  • EPA (Environmental Protection Agency): The EPA’s regulations safeguard workers and consumers by ensuring safer practices. Without these regulations, corporations can cut costs, but this would likely lead to unsafe working conditions and higher rates of workplace accidents and fatalities, alongside environmental degradation.
  • Department of Education: The Department of Education plays a crucial role in supporting students and ensuring equitable access to education. Without it, educational disparities could widen, and the quality of education could decline, impacting the nation’s future workforce and economic prosperity.

In summary, while the dismantling of these programs and agencies can increase profits for certain corporations and reduce federal spending, it would also lead to significant negative consequences for public health, financial security, consumer rights, worker safety, and educational equity.

We can’t afford Trump, Muskrat, and GOP budget cuts or dismantling of departments and agencies.
