This week, Governor Mike DeWine authorized the deployment of 150 Ohio National Guard troops to Washington, D.C.—not in response to a local emergency, not at the request of D.C. leadership, but as part of a federally orchestrated show of force.

Let’s call it what it is: partisan theater.

While Ohio communities face real challenges—from housing insecurity to public health gaps—our taxpayer dollars are being funneled into a political stunt that serves no one but those clinging to power through fear and optics.

This isn’t leadership. It’s performance.

And it’s a performance that undermines the dignity of Ohioans, the autonomy of D.C., and the integrity of public service itself.

💰 A Misuse of Resources

Deploying troops costs money. It costs time. It costs trust.
Ohioans didn’t ask for this. D.C. didn’t ask for this.
So why are our public servants acting like stagehands in someone else’s drama?
